Michael Reese has 32 years of economic development experience. He began his career in 1979 at the Economic Development and Technical Assistance Center at the State University of Plattsburgh. In 1983, Mike was appointed the Executive Director of Herkimer County Area Development Corporation and Vice-Chairman of the Herkimer County IDA. He was appointed the Executive Director of Mohawk Valley Economic Development District (MVEDD) in 1986, a position he held for twenty two years. During his tenure at MVEDD, Mike obtained over $35 million in federal grants that resulted in the development of $97 million in public infrastructure projects throughout the six county Mohawk Valley region. He also successfully packaged $53 million in loans to 200 companies. In September of 2008 Mike accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer of Fulton County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC). In January 2010, he was promoted to President and CEO of FCEDC. Governor Cuomo appointed Mike to the Mohawk Valley Regional Economic Development Council in July 2011. Upon the creation of Fulton County Center for Regional Growth in March of 2012, Mike was appointed by the Board of Directors as CRG’s President and CEO. This corporation was established to assume the role as parent to its two subsidiary corporations, Fulton County Economic Development Corporation and Crossroads Incubator Corporation.
Mike has been awarded the title of Certified Economic Developer by the International Economic Development Council and the Economic Development Finance Professional Certification by the National Development Council. In 1993, he was the recipient of the New York State Economic Development Council’s Robert T. Dormer Economic Developer of the Year Award. Mike is a past President of the New York State Economic Development Council and currently serves as its Treasurer.
